When
Michelangelo
, the great Italian
sculptor and
painter, sought to explain his technique for creating magnificent
sculptures in a letter to
Benedetto Varchi, he proclaimed "I saw the angel in the marble and carved until I set it free." We are always faced with a daunting task to challenge our creativity. We would do well to adopt Michelangelo's approach. We need to find what is most beautiful, most compelling, and most powerful about what we are dealing with, and work until others can see it as clearly as we do.
