Thought Of The Day - The Hard Way

Somethings we learn the "hard way" proves to be worth the lesson that caused us so much anxiety and worry. Experience is what we get when we don't get what we want, but if we apply the knowledge and insight we gained to an endeavor, we will reap rewards beyond what we had fantasized about. Even though we may have traveled a very rough road for some time to get our bearings back, it was well worth the trouble.

Thought Of The Day - Our Own Judgement

What would we do if we were somebody else? Where would we go? How would we behave? We cannot possibly answer this question. We have no idea. We can only be ourselves. Why, then, do we sometimes feel inclined to emulate the examples of others? Or even to assume that their ideas and actions are worth more than our own? Without becoming arrogant, and whilst remembering that it is important to listen and be sensitive, it is imperative to trust our own judgement.

Thought Of the Day - Baffling Circumstances

When we face baffling circumstances, we can either try to wrap our minds around them or we can shrug our shoulders. It is easier, by far, to ignore a paradox than to try to understand one. This is because life itself is beyond reason. We feel, the entire time we are here on this planet, as if we have been - and will be - here forever. Yet we know in our bones that that's not true! There's plenty in our world that makes no sense. We need to ignore that and just relish the magic within it.

Thought Of The Day - Purpose of Life

What is the purpose of life? Ah, that's easy. The purpose of life is to wonder what the purpose of life is. If we actually knew, we wouldn't have anything to feel confused about. Life, without confusion, delusion, uncertainty and/or wild obsessive belief would be pretty dull. All the best adventures are never-ending quests. When we reach the top of a mountain, what else is there to do but come back down and find another mountain to climb? It is not a satisfying answer we seek, it is a satisfying question.

Thought Of The Day - love

'Life without love is like a tree without blossoms or fruit.' So said the great poet Kahlil Gibran. There are, though, many who would disagree. They would say that there is no such thing as love. It is an irrational impulse. An unreasonable emotion. An imaginary experience. It may feel real, but there is no scientific evidence to confirm its existence. Lust, you can prove. Loyalty, you can explain. Love? Well, love is like life itself. Nobody knows what the point of it is!

Thought Of The Day

How much do we know? If there's just one crucial thing that we do not know, it could undermine the integrity of much that we currently understand. The trouble with things that we don't know is that, more often than not, we don't know we don't know them. We only find out when we make a discovery. All I'm trying to say is that there always seems to be some confusion. There is missing or misleading information - and, until more has come to light, we would be better off doing less. Try not to form an opinion. Bide our time and keep your options open.

Thought Of The Day

Ask as many people as we wish to. Make as many emphatic statements as we like. None of this will make us any wiser. We try to understand an emotion with our intellect. This is like trying to taste an orange by holding it up to our ear. We are using the wrong tool for the job. Can we conclude that the orange has no taste, just because our ear cannot hear it? Well then, how can we decide that our feeling has no relevance, just because our inner computer cannot comfortably explain it? We need to honour and respect our deepest emotions.
